April 25-26, 2009

5:25pm

That last Top Fuel has gone done the track and that will bring and end to the Stone Mountain Harley Davidson Southern Nationals.  We had a beautiful day racing and finally got one in the books.  All the ladders have been posted and we may have had a record in one of the classes but needs to get verified first.   Thanks to everyone for their patience with me on the News page as I hope it will get better with time.

Our next event will be the Ohio Bike Week National in Norwalk, Ohio June 6-7

4.35pm

That time has come for the finals.  Stay tuned.

3:30pm

We are now heading into the 3rd round (Semi-Finals).  Keep watching those ladders.

2:30pm

Everything is going great here in Atlanta!  We are getting started with our 2nd round ( Quarter Finals) of Eliminations with Pro Mod coming to the line first with Outlaw Fuel then some sportsman class.

12:30p

Opening Ceremonies have just finished (side note that Donnie Huffman was your #1 ET qualifier and received a check for $150.00 from Full Throttle Magazine).  We started the show off with Jay Turner and Robert Stewart with Jay taking the win with a 6.622 at 209.07 against Roberts 6.632 at 219.47.

Our second pair came out with Tommy Grimes and Steve Dorn.  Tommy would take the win but would also brush up against the side of the wall with his leathers putting a slight hold on racing so we can check the track.   We are back underway at 12:45 with Mike Romine and Phil Schmidt and Mike taking the win with a 6.573 at 209.88 against PhilÕs 6.602 at 229.88.  Next up are Joe Sternotti and John Breckenridge.  John will end up red lighting and then going to the center of track taking out the 330 cone.  Joe would run a 6.345 at 227.50 for the automatic win.   That will end the first round of eliminations for ScreaminÕ Eagle Top Fuel.  Stay tuned to all the ladders here on Live Race Updates and I will check back in with any exciting or breaking news.

9:00am Sunday April 26, 2009

Good morning from Atlanta Dragway.  The sun is out this morning and it looks like we are finally going to be able to go racing.  It is supposed to be in the mid-80Õs again today with plenty of sunshine.  We will start this morning with 2 round of ET back to back and then one round each of SEP, SE, SS, and SG and then take a break if time permits before Opening Ceremonies at 12:15.  Stay tuned to the elimination ladders for all you favorite racers and friends.  I will try and check back in and keep everyone up to date with any breaking news when time allows me to.

10:55pm

The ladders are all posted on the website at:  www2.ahdra.com/liveupdate.html and at the Tech trailer here at Atlanta Raceway ÒThe House of SpeedÓ.

We had a lot of delays today due parts and oil down on the track.  We had a racer have a part come off his bike and hit him, and thankfully he is doing fine and will probably be a little sore tomorrow.  We also had two different racers go into the beach, and those gentlemen are doing ok.  The track also had their issues with the scoreboard display but was quickly resolved.

Despite having rain at the AHDRAÕs Season Opener at Gateway International Raceway in St. Louis and then having several different issues with delays here at our second event of the season, tomorrow is what really counts.  Two bikes go down the track but only one gets to come back.

Racing will start at 9:30am so stop back for all the excitement!

5:20pm

Due to parts on the track throughout the afternoon we are running about an hour behind.  We are on hold here getting ready to do some track prep for the 3rd round of qualifying in the Pro classes.

3:45pm

After having several classes go down the track with no problems, we have had some issues with a bike having parts fly off and onto the track and a racer down into the sand area.  Everyone is fine and we are getting back into racing with the last couple of bike in Top Fuel.

Junior Pippin is here today with us since the NHRA is not racing this weekend.   He will make an exhibition run for the fans.

2:00pm

We just got started with our 2nd round of Sportsman qualifying and got through the ET class into Destroyer and had a racer oil down the track for 30 minutes.  We are back up and racing and only behind schedule by about 15 minutes.

12:05pm

Back underway with 1st round of Pro Qualifying

11:37pm

We are on a hold for technical issues with the track scoreboard.

11:15am

Pros are underway

10:24am

We are on a short break to prep the track and will be bringing the Pro classes to the line at 11:00

9:00am Saturday April 25, 2009
